Arizona's statute keeps two sets of numbers, which is why old articles can mislead. Section 28-4009 shows 15/30/10 for an earlier period and 25/50/15 now, and the second set is the one to compare with your policy. The enforcement section, 28-4135, rises by steps. A first violation carries a minimum civil penalty of $500 and three months of suspended or restricted driving. A second within 36 months carries at least $750 and six months without license, registration or plates. A third within 36 months carries at least $1,000 and one year, and the state then requires a filing of proof of financial responsibility before reinstating. The section does not call that filing an SR-22, so we do not either. The property line of $15,000 is the same as California's and Maryland's.

What the three numbers mean in Arizona

No other state we read uses this exact combination, which makes copying a policy from a neighbor unreliable: check all three numbers, not just the first.

$25,000 is the most the policy pays for one injured person. $50,000 is the most it pays for everyone hurt in the crash. $15,000 is the most it pays for the other car and anything else you damage.

Not verified means that we did not read the rule on an official page. It does not mean that the rule is absent, and we do not infer at-fault status from silence. Ask the state before relying on a blank.

Questions people ask

What is the minimum car insurance in Arizona?

Arizona requires liability limits of at least $25,000 for injury to one person, $50,000 per accident for injuries, and $15,000 for property damage, written 25/50/15. We read these figures on an official state page on November 2, 2026. Other coverages may apply: see what we could verify on this page, and confirm with the state.

Is 25/50/15 enough coverage in Arizona?

It is the legal floor, not a measure of risk. If one person's injuries cost $75,000, a $25,000 limit leaves $50,000 that can be claimed from you personally. Enter your own scenario in the tool above to see the amount. This is arithmetic on your figures, not insurance advice.

What else does Arizona require or enforce besides these limits?
