Oklahoma's Insurance Department states the minimum as 25/50/25: $25,000 of bodily injury protection per person, $50,000 per accident and $25,000 of property damage protection. It gives the figures on a page about common myths, and its point is that the legal floor is not a measure of what a crash costs. The department quotes an insurance industry recommendation of 100/300/100 without making it a rule, so we do not treat it as one. It also explains who pays when someone else drives your car: in Oklahoma the owner's liability insurance follows the car as long as the owner gave the driver permission, and if the owner failed to buy liability insurance, the driver is required by law to carry it. Comprehensive and collision cover are optional, though many lenders require both on a financed car, and the department notes that a car worth under $1,000 may not justify them. Oklahoma's statute site and state portal terms did not answer our reader, so we give no penalty here.

What the three numbers mean in Oklahoma

This is the most common pattern among the states we read, shared with 11 others, so a policy from one of them normally fits without change.

$25,000 is the most the policy pays for one injured person. $50,000 is the most it pays for everyone hurt in the crash. $25,000 is the most it pays for the other car and anything else you damage.

Questions people ask

What is the minimum car insurance in Oklahoma?

Oklahoma requires liability limits of at least $25,000 for injury to one person, $50,000 per accident for injuries, and $25,000 for property damage, written 25/50/25. We read these figures on an official state page on November 3, 2026. Other coverages may apply: see what we could verify on this page, and confirm with the state.

Is 25/50/25 enough coverage in Oklahoma?

It is the legal floor, not a measure of risk. If one person's injuries cost $75,000, a $25,000 limit leaves $50,000 that can be claimed from you personally. Enter your own scenario in the tool above to see the amount. This is arithmetic on your figures, not insurance advice.

What else does Oklahoma require or enforce besides these limits?
