Florida's financial responsibility statute, section 324.021, gives the lowest injury figures we read: $10,000 for one person and $20,000 per crash, with $10,000 for property. Section 627.733 requires owners of registered vehicles to keep security in effect throughout the registration period, and a nonresident's car needs it once it has been in the state for more than 90 of the past 365 days. Section 627.736 sets personal injury protection at a limit of $10,000 in medical and disability benefits and $5,000 in death benefits. After certain DUI convictions, section 324.023 lifts the requirement to $100,000 per person, $300,000 per crash and $50,000 for property. People often call that an FR-44, but the section we read does not use that name. The state's motor vehicle agency was not read here, so nothing on this page rests on its site.

What the three numbers mean in Florida

Florida sits at the low end of what we read: 37 states ask for more per person. A policy bought here at the floor can fall short the day its owner moves away.

$10,000 is the most the policy pays for one injured person. $20,000 is the most it pays for everyone hurt in the crash. $10,000 is the most it pays for the other car and anything else you damage.

Not verified means that we did not read the rule on an official page. It does not mean that the rule is absent, and we do not infer at-fault status from silence. Ask the state before relying on a blank.

Questions people ask

What is the minimum car insurance in Florida?

Florida requires liability limits of at least $10,000 for injury to one person, $20,000 per accident for injuries, and $10,000 for property damage, written 10/20/10. We read these figures on an official state page on November 2, 2026. Other coverages may apply: see what we could verify on this page, and confirm with the state.

Is 10/20/10 enough coverage in Florida?

It is the legal floor, not a measure of risk. If one person's injuries cost $30,000, a $10,000 limit leaves $20,000 that can be claimed from you personally. Enter your own scenario in the tool above to see the amount. This is arithmetic on your figures, not insurance advice.

What else does Florida require or enforce besides these limits?

Florida's financial responsibility statute, section 324.021, gives the lowest injury figures we read: $10,000 for one person and $20,000 per crash, with $10,000 for property. Section 627.733 requires owners of registered vehicles to keep security in effect throughout the registration period, and a nonresident's car needs it once it has been in the state for more than 90 of the past 365 days.
