Connecticut's Insurance Department lists $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury and $25,000 for property damage, and it adds a line many arrivals miss: uninsured and underinsured motorist cover of at least $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident, under section 38a-336 of the General Statutes and the department's Bulletin PC-86. A policy written only to the three liability figures is therefore short in Connecticut. The same page says insurers must notify the Department of Motor Vehicles when a policy is canceled, so a lapse reaches the state without any roadside check. The department strongly urges drivers to consider higher limits than the floor. It describes bodily injury liability as answering the claims of people hurt in an accident you caused, including medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. Collision and comprehensive cover are not required by law, though a lender or leasing company may require them. The legislature's site could not be reached over a verified secure connection, so we give no penalty.

What the three numbers mean in Connecticut
This is the most common pattern among the states we read, shared with 11 others, so a policy from one of them normally fits without change.
$25,000 is the most the policy pays for one injured person. $50,000 is the most it pays for everyone hurt in the crash. $25,000 is the most it pays for the other car and anything else you damage.

Not verified means that we did not read the rule on an official page. It does not mean that the rule is absent, and we do not infer at-fault status from silence. Ask the state before relying on a blank.
